This wasn't supposed to happen to you. You're a respected tech professional with more than two decades of experience. You're riding smoothly on six figures a year toward your clearly visible retirement landmark. Without warning your smooth career path ends. The road ahead is unpaved and totally blocked. At least, that's how it looks to you right now.
You close your eyes, open them, and look again hoping to see a wide stretch of road leading straight to your dream future. No such luck. You and countless others with brains, education, and real world expereince have been flipped into irrelevance by the velocity of technological change. The painful irony of that hits you harder than most. You're a tech professional for Chrissakes!
The anxiety, frustration, anger, and fear that your feel are all justified. But now I'm going to tell you to let them go. Just for the few minutes it takes to read this blog post. Humor me, please. I promise to make it worth your while.
Right now, throw logic out the window. Ignore the loud voices in your head keep telling your situation is bad. Take a leap with your imagination by asking this simple question: What if losing my career and income is a blessing in disguise? I assure you it is.
Consider for a moment that your earnings haven't ended. What has ended is an outdated earning model that never supported your true earning potential. The linear income earning model. In this model, your income is always tied to hours worked or a salary; it's capped, and it's very vulnerable to decisions made by other people. It may feel like a lucrative income. Lucrative is realtive. No matter how good it feels, linear income is always an anchor on your life and your potential.
You're probably rolling your eyes right now. I get it. You've known linear income for most of your life, and it has been good to you. Every sane intelligent person feels stroing resistance when somebody challenges what they have known and loved.
My friend Laura is a great example. Laura was a prosecuting attorney at the top of her game. She specialized in putting drug dealers behind bars. She was really good at it and proud about her skill and contribution to making the world a better place. She was also highly stressed and constantly fighting exhaustion. She avoided thinking about how toxic her work environment could be.
Laura's husband was a respected undercover police officer busting the drug dealers that Laura sent away. Their combinded linear incomes were impressive but not impressive enough to eliminate their anxiety about givng their young son the best possible future.
What happened next is really funny. One of Laura's neighbors turned her on to a natural energy food supplement helped Laura tackle her work with greater ease and less stress. When she discovered that she could earn money by simply referring the product to people she got excited and told her husband. He recoiled from this "opportunity." He asked the famous question, "Isn't this an illegal pyramid scheme?"
That's a natural question to ask when you live in a world that only supports trading your time for dollars. A world that only trust linear income earning.
Cudos to Laura and Steve, her husband, for keeping an open mind, doing a little smart research, and deciding to promote the food supplements that were making them feel sharper, younger, and just all around great. Before they knew it, a lot of people took their recommenmdations, loved their improved health and vitality, and spread the word about how to have better health and greater wealth.
Laura actually walked away froim her law career, and Steve said goodbye to law enforcement. They without intending to, they had smashed through their limited income ceilings. Soon, their life choices were more exciing and satisfying. They ended up moving to the west coast of Canada so their son could deepen his love for skiing.
Lauara and Steve not onle earn far more money than they did in their lucrative jobs, but they have reclaimed life's most precious asset, time. They alternate between working their business from home and enjoying weeks at a time on the ski slopes with their son.
Here's the real magic. Their income is NOT tied to a ticking clock. It doesn't grow by addition. It continually multiplies and expands without more effort on their part. That's the beauty of exponential income. It replaces the formula of working a lot to live a little with working a little to live a lot.
Earning exponential income is the future of earning money. Period. It will soon be the norm. Think about that. People will start rolling their eyes at the suggestion of earning linear income.
